"Todd and Tamara McLaughlin, owners of Native Yoga Center, are knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and wise teachers. I have practiced with them for eleven years, and it is a privilege to have completed teacher training with them. Not only do they provide a complete and solid foundation in sequencing, hands-on assists, modifications, history, philosophy, and anatomy, but they also create a nurturing, challenging, and encouraging environment for learning to teach and grow your own practice." ~ Amy Stauber

Program Overview
The purpose of the Native Yoga Immersion Teacher Training Program is to provide an education platform to serve future yoga instructors and students in learning yoga technique and theory at a practical pace. This program emphasizes the personal practice of the yoga practitioner as the foundation of the training program. In addition, the program focuses on the theoretical understanding of the philosophy and science of Yoga and the practical application of this knowledge to personal practice and the art of teaching. The purpose of each Immersion session is to explore yoga practice and philosophy in an in depth fashion. This allows each participant to explore the many dimensions of yoga practice to help deepen one's own practice.

The NYC Native Yoga Immersion Teacher Training Program is an opportunity for practitioners and teachers of all levels of experience to learn the Native Yoga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Gentle, Yin & Hot approach to Yoga. During the program, students immerse themselves in the study and practice of asana, pranayama, meditation and theory. An emphasis is placed on the personal practice of the teacher as the foundation of the learning process. Active public class participation and observation in between training sessions helps students apply concepts from each training session to their personal practice and teaching. A Native Yoga Training Manual is provided to students at the first session who are enrolled in the full 200, 300 or 500 hour program. Each 200hr or greater enrolled student will receive a Yoga: Philosophy and History Manual by Georg Feuerstein, PH.D..

A Native Yoga Immersion Teacher Training Program 200hr graduate is qualified to teach the Native Yoga sequences. Adaptations for each posture in the sequences are learned to be able to apply options for individual needs while teaching. Through training and practice of teaching these sequences the opportunity to create unique sequencing specific to the needs of individuals or groups is developed. The NYC Native Yoga Immersion Teacher Training Program graduate possess the tools and skills necessary to lead individuals of all levels to discover the incredible benefits of Yoga practice.

Those enrolled in either the 300 or 500 hr program are taken deeper into the history and philosophy of yoga and are instructed in leading the Native Hour, Ashtanga Primary Series and Mysore classes as offered at Native Yoga Center. If a 300hr participant has completed a 200hr training elsewhere they will be included in a combination of the Native Yoga 200 and 300hr curriculum.  The first goal is to become comfortable teaching the Native Yoga classes. Once this is achieved we are able to direct the student toward learning different sequences and in improving sequential forms.
The Native Yoga Immersion and Intensive Teacher Training Program is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 200 & 300 hour level allowing one to become RYT 500.
