This evening is devoted to learning several compassion meditation practices that can be combined with mindfulness every day. Participants will learn that compassion begins with one’s own self by accepting, forgiving and staying centered in the heart. The main practice called Tonglen is from Tibetan Buddhism. It means “exchanging self for other.” This type of compassion meditation combines mindfulness, breathing and visualization to be of service and skillful help to other people. Variations will be taught that can be applied on the spot in every day life. This includes generating feelings of gratitude in the heart for life experience.

Michael Shea, PhD has been teaching compassion meditations for over 30 years around the world.
